3D Digitising

Sometimes it is not possible to get hold of the 3D data for an existing design you'd like to alter.

We have a Microscribe digitizing arm which we use to capture 3D points in space across a surface, so it can be rebuilt in our 3D software.

It is a very efficient way to work compared to full 3D laser scanning where you get a huge amount of data, but then you need a way to break down the part into a logical set of surfaces.

With digitizing you get the data you need to efficiently remodel the part. Plus the optical appearance of the part doesn't need to be altered in order for it to scan (i.e. you don't need to spray things with mat paint to be seen by the laser technologies).

We have used it extensively to capture design intent from existing complex 3D products that don't have any straight lines at all.

We are happy to provide our 3D digitizing skills as a service.
