Royal Mail

An innovative approach to thinking space.

When faced with designing an Innovation lab for the Royal Mail's head office, DeMontfort University turned to Segasby Studios.

The Lab would be used by senior Royal Mail staff, and other business parties, providing them with the tools and environment to unlock potential business-changing ideas. Whether brainstorming a new concept or developing an existing idea, it enabled people to get away from the office and focus wholly on the task in hand.

Royal Mail had a clear vision of the zones they wanted to create within the space. It was our job to creatively interpret those ideas into visually attractive and functional spaces.

The zones included a Playroom-classroom concept, a Foresight zone which focussed on predicting future trends, a Puzzle room which contained a large circular table and a conveyor belt filled with a selection of 'brain games'. While it was certainly one of our more enjoyable projects and allowed our imaginations to run riot, it has served a very real purpose in the management of the Royal Mail.

Designs were approved based on our concept visualisation shown here and a full set of detailed drawings were produced for the contractors.
